plead not guilty and have a trial, you must notify the Court Administrator of your intention at least seven (7) days prior to your scheduled court date.\u00a0 If you fail to notify the Court Administrator it may be necessary for you to make 2 court appearances.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Only summonses with a checked court appearance date will be listed on the court agenda.\u00a0 A defendant who has a summons that does not require a court appearance, but would like to appear, must follow the above procedure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">If payment is made by mail, do not send cash, but send a check or money order payable to:<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0Mullica Township Municipal Court<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0PO Box 318<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0Elwood, NJ 08217<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Payment is due on or before the date listed on the bottom of the summons.\u00a0 If payment is received after that date, you may be assessed a late fee.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">A receipt will be sent only if a payment is accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed envelope.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">If you fail to appear in response to a summons or to pay the prescribed penalty, additional penalties may result.\u00a0 A warrant may be issued for your arrest and your driving privileges in New Jersey may be revoked.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">If you have been charged with a parking offense, heard in this order:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>application of adjournments<\/li>\n<li>guilty pleas<\/li>\n<li>contested matters with an attorney<\/li>\n<li>other contested matters<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>IF YOU COME TO COURT FOR A TRAFFIC OFFENSE<\/strong>\u00a0and you have not previously notified the court of your intention to please Not Guilty, speak to the court clerk immediately.\u00a0 If the officer of others involved can be contacted to testify, your case may be heard.\u00a0 If they cannot be reached, you will have to make another court appearance at a later date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHEN YOU PLEAD \u201cGUILTY\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0it is not necessary to have a trial.\u00a0 You have admitted that you have violated the law.\u00a0 However, you may then explain to the Judge any extenuating circumstances.\u00a0 The Judge will then impose sentence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IF YOU PLEAD \u201cNOT GUILTY\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0you and the witnesses will be placed under oath to speak the truth.\u00a0 It is necessary for the prosecution to prove the charges against you.\u00a0 Your attorney has the right to ask the prosecution\u2019s witnesses any questions pertaining to the charges.\u00a0 If you do not have an attorney, present your questions for the witness to the Judge.<\/p>\n<p>*For some violations, the required proof is by a preponderance of the credible evidence as, for example, in Penalty Enforcement Actions, fish and Game, filiation proceeding, breathalyzer refusal violations etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHEN THE PROSECUTION HAS FINISHED<\/strong>\u00a0you may then present your own witnesses or testify on your own behalf.\u00a0 You are not forced to testify against yourself, but you may testify if you desire.\u00a0 Any evidence you give may be used by either side.\u00a0 If you do testify, the prosecution has the right to ask you any questions pertaining to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>If the court finds you guilty and you feel the judgment or the sentence was in error, you have twenty (20) days within which to appeal.\u00a0 Appeals in practically all instances will be heard by the Superior Court, Law Division.<\/p>\n<p>Damages resulting from a collision cannot be tried by this court.\u00a0 This court is only concerned with violation of the State statutes and municipal ordinances.<\/p>\n<p>Every person has the right to make his own defense without an attorney; but, if you
